last of my menswear aw09 reviews: ann, rick,...
ann demuelemeester
The military motif was very much alive and well in ann’s fall/winter collection (which i’m sort of over, but it did not overwhelm her collection). Her collection was focused, keeping within a tight-knit color palette (blacks of course and muted colors like browns and khaki’s). Her point-of view came across nicely. I loved the accessories: the pocket chains,...

menswear aw09: dries, yohji, number (n)ine
Number (N)ine
So conceptual, it hurts. But it hurts so good. Takahiro Miyashita showed Paris (and the rest of the world) that men can wear lace, skirts and tights and not be considered a tranny. His collection, as I interpreted it, was a fusion of a victorian scholar and a llama-herder from the himalayas. There was a lot going on, but far from over-thought. Everything made sense, the...

greatest day in history: happy obama day!
I am so happy that I can live to tell my children about the day an African-American became president. As an African-American, as a patron of diversity, I am overwhelmed with hope and joy. This man will change the world. America finally got it right.
Here’s to an amazing four years, and another four after that!

menswear aw09: jil sander
men.style.com
I was very pleased with Jil Sander’s men’s collection for aw09. There was variety in silhouettes, textures and looks. This was a collection that catered to every man. Everyone from the dark minimalist, to the bold risk-taker. I liked how he also managed to slip in a round two of color-blocking, but a different variation of it, almost as if he airbrushed the...

ysl @ dvf
did anyone else happen to catch the homage to the YSL fall/winter ‘08 bowl-cut on “The City” a couple weeks back?
some could argue it’s more of a karen-o cut… aw hell, every hipster was doing at some point, but when I saw this woman appear on the show, during their DVF shoot, YSL came to mind immediately.
and yes, I watch “The City” religiously....

thrown into the fashion PR fire
Today was my first day interning at PR Consulting, one of the top fashion PR agencies in nyc. Words cannot express how worn out I am. Let’s just say my new year’s resolution of joining a gym can be disregarded because I will be burning some serious calories. Because I feel describing my day would be like writing a novel, I am just going to provide a few buzz words, and you can piece...

Beyonce is definitely killing it with her dance moves these days. Not only is she trying to stay a step ahead with her dances, but also her style. At first, I thought she was trying a little to hard…maybe she felt threatened by Rihanna’s style re-vamp? But, I have to say I am really impressed that Beyonce has managed to pull off the most un-wearable, cyborg-esque and avant-garde of...
